MODALITIES

Academic Merit

The General Regulations for Professional Exams, Article 8, state that those who obtain the Academic Merit Recognition are exempt from taking the professional exam.

Graduates who have received the Academic Merit recognition can access this graduation modality.

General Requirements

  • Complete all credits of the respective study program.
  • Complete professional social service.
  • Prove English proficiency (graduates from 2006-2 onwards).
  • Take the General Exit Exam for undergraduate studies (graduates from 2006-2 onwards).
  • Academic Merit recognition of your generation.

Documentation

  • 1 Copy of the Academic Merit Recognition document.
  • Completed pre-application (access through the website http://siii.uabc.mx/ with your institutional email account).
  • Document verification (issued by the Department of Student Services and School Management) (To obtain the verification, you must send an email to sherlen.cardenas@uabc.edu.mx to generate the receipt required by student services to generate the document verification).
  • 5 title-sized photographs (the photographs must meet the following requirements, otherwise your file will not be accepted).
    • Pasted on a white background.
    • Oval-shaped.
    • Matte finish.
    • 6 x 9 cm size.
    • Black and white.
    • Front view with 5 cm face close-up.
    • Men: suit, tie, and light-colored shirt.
    • Women: No sleeveless blouses, (straps, strapless) or dark colors, as the seal loses visibility. (Photos with photo studio stamps or glasses will not be accepted).
  • Payment receipt for the title processing fee of $4,720.00 pesos (only if you graduated in 2006-1 or earlier, this amount must be paid).
  • Payment receipt for $200.00 pesos for the University Social Responsibility Promotion. (original and copy) (no format is needed, just visit the treasury department).
  • Letter of Responsibility. (Authorization of the Photographs (this authorization is related to the quality of the photographs, not the requirements). THE DEGREE DEPARTMENT PROVIDES THE LETTER OF RESPONSIBILITY TO BE COMPLETED ON THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT.
  • 1 copy of the professional studies certificate.
  • 1 copy of the birth certificate.
  • 1 copy of the CURP.
  • 1 copy of the High School Certificate. (Original if it corresponds to an institution from another state).

Note: All copies must be double-sided and reduced to letter size.

Once the process is completed, the graduate will be eligible to take the Oath Ceremony, which, according to Article 111 of the UABC School Statute, is mandatory.

Overall GPA

To access this graduation modality according to Article 106, Section IV of the UABC School Statute, a minimum GPA of 85 is required, regardless of whether extraordinary exams were taken or any course was repeated.

If the graduate obtained a minimum GPA of 90 and did not take any extraordinary exams or repeat any course, they have the right to request an Honorable Mention recognition.

EGEL-CENEVAL

To access this graduation modality, according to Article 106, Section II of the UABC School Statute, it is necessary to have passed the General Exit Exam for undergraduate studies (EGEL-CENEVAL) and present the Accreditation Certificate issued by the National Evaluation Center.

Graduates who obtained an Outstanding result may request an Honorable Mention recognition.

  • Pass the EGEL-CENEVAL.

To access this graduation modality, it is necessary to have graduated from a High-Quality Educational Program. For the educational programs of the Faculty of Engineering, graduates who have the option to choose this graduation method according to the accreditation date and their graduation cycle are:

Professional Practice

To access this graduation modality, according to the criteria established by the academic unit, it is required to prove the performance of professional practice for a minimum period of 2 years from the date of graduation.

1st Stage: Submit a request to the Graduation Coordination to access this modality.

Attach to this request the documentation that proves a period of no less than 2 years of professional practice, which must be directly related to the educational program studied. This document must be presented as follows:

  • Bound, covered, in a folder, or book-bound.
  • With a cover identifying the institution’s information, graduation modality, desired title, and the applicant’s name and student number.
  • With the following documentation:
    • Curriculum vitae (original).
    • Summary of work activities for a minimum period of 2 years (original).
    • The following supporting documents:
      • Work letters (original).
      • Payroll (copy of monthly pay stubs, minimum of 2 years).
      • Registration with IMSS, ISSSTE, or similar institution.
      • Other documents that you consider important to prove the time worked and the professional practice related to the studied program.
    • Copy of the Professional Studies Certificate, Graduate Letter, and Release of Professional Social Service.

    The document must be presented in original and two copies. It will be forwarded to a REVIEW COMMITTEE composed of specialists in the area, who will determine within no more than 15 working days the accreditation or non-accreditation of the graduation modality. Once the modality is accredited, proceed to:

    2nd Stage: Consists of submitting the following documents:

    • Updated receipt of no outstanding school documents (issued by the Department of Student Services and School Management).
    • Pre-application completed (must access the page http://siii.uabc.mx/ with your institutional email account).
    • Payment receipt for the title processing fee of $4,200.00 pesos (for graduates from 2006-1 and earlier).
    • Payment receipt for $200.00 pesos for the concept of University Social Responsibility Promotion.
    • 4 title-size photographs, laminated, oval, matte finish, 6 x 9 cm., black and white, front-facing with a 5 cm close-up of the face. Men: suit, tie, and light-colored shirt. Women: Photographs with sleeveless tops (straps, strapless) or dark colors will not be accepted, as the seal loses visibility. (Photos with the photographer’s seal or glasses will not be accepted).
    • 4 infant-size photographs with the same characteristics as above (not laminated).
    • 1 copy of the professional studies certificate.
    • 1 copy of the birth certificate.
    • 1 copy of the CURP.
    • 1 copy of the High School Certificate. (Original if it corresponds to an institution from another Federal Entity).
    • 1 copy of the academic approval, issued by the corresponding review committee.

    Note: All copies must be double-sided and reduced to letter size.

    Once the process is completed, the graduate will be enabled to take the Oath of Protest, which, according to Article 111 of the UABC School Statute, is mandatory.

Postgraduate Studies

According to Article 106, Section IV of the UABC School Statute, POSTGRADUATE STUDIES can be used as a graduation modality as long as the following requirements are met:

  • Completion of 100% of the studies in a specialty related to the educational program completed.
  • Completion of 50% of the credits of a master’s degree related to the educational program completed.

1st stage:
To use this modality, the graduate must REQUEST ACADEMIC AUTHORIZATION by submitting the following documents to the Graduation Coordination:

  • Request for acceptance of this graduation modality.
  • Copy of the specialty certificate or official statement of the percentage of credits completed in the master’s program.
  • Copy of the study plan, if the program is offered by an institution other than UABC.
  • Copy of the Professional Studies Certificate, Degree Certificate, and Social Service Completion.

2nd Stage: which consists of submitting the following documents:

  • Updated document clearance receipt (issued by the Department of Student Services and School Management).
  • Completed pre-application (access through the website http://siii.uabc.mx/ with your institutional email account).
  • Payment receipt for the title processing fee of $4,200.00 pesos (graduates from 2006-1 and earlier).
  • Payment receipt for $200.00 pesos for the University Social Responsibility Promotion.
  • 4 title-sized photographs pasted on a white background, oval-shaped, matte finish, 6 x 9 cm size, black and white, front view with 5 cm face close-up. Men: suit, tie, and light-colored shirt. Once the process is completed, the graduate will be eligible to take the Oath Ceremony, which, according to Article 111 of the UABC School Statute, is mandatory.

Social Service

Social service, as a graduation option, should represent a professional contribution that the student or graduate makes to society. This contribution can be in the field of research, teaching, or carrying out activities that involve putting into practice the knowledge acquired in their professional studies.

1st Phase: Assign yourself to a social service program and simultaneously request authorization from the Academic Unit for it to serve as a graduation option. For this authorization to proceed, the program’s objectives must align with those outlined in the first paragraph of this guideline. The Academic Unit will assign a program coordinator who will supervise its compliance and act as an advisor in the preparation of the report or memoir.

According to the criteria of the Department of Professional Training and Community Engagement, the written work must meet the following requirements:

FORM: Bound or encased. Cover with the institution’s name and emblem, faculty name, the applicant’s name, the degree program, mention of the graduation modality, table of contents, introduction, topic development, conclusions, and bibliography.

CONTENT: The report or memoir must be submitted in writing at the end of the social service, describing the activities carried out, the degree of achievement of the initial objectives, and the overall results obtained in the program.

If the Department of Professional Training and Community Engagement cancels the social service hours accrued, the graduation option will also be canceled, and the applicant can choose between starting over with this graduation option or selecting any other listed in the School Statute.

2nd Phase: which consists of submitting the following documents:

  • Updated document clearance receipt (issued by the Department of Student Services and School Management)
  • Completed pre-application (access through the website http://siii.uabc.mx with your institutional email account).
  • Payment receipt for the title processing fee of $4,200.00 pesos (graduates from 2006-1 and earlier).
  • Payment receipt for $200.00 pesos for the University Social Responsibility Promotion.

  • 1 copy of the High School Certificate. (Original if it corresponds to an institution from another state).

Graduation Course or Diploma

Graduation courses will be structured in such a way that they allow for the assessment, in combination, of the student’s knowledge, skills, and abilities related to their career, as well as their capacity for understanding and identifying problems and applying their knowledge and skills to solve them.

The accreditation of a graduation course will be equivalent to the first stage of the professional exam.

Under no circumstances will the deadline to present the second stage of the professional exam exceed six months after the completion of the course.

When applying for the Professional Exam, the applicant must submit the following requirements to the Graduation Coordination at least fifteen business days before the proposed date:

  • Updated document clearance receipt (issued by the Department of Student Services and School Management).
  • Completed pre-application (access through the website http://siii.uabc.mx/ with your institutional email account).
  • Payment receipt for the title processing fee of $4,200.00 pesos (graduates from 2006-1 and earlier).
  • Payment receipt for $200.00 pesos for the University Social Responsibility Promotion.
  • 5 title-sized photographs, laminated, oval, matte finish, 6 x 9 cm, black and white, front view with 5 cm face close-up. Men: suit, tie, and light-colored shirt. Women: No sleeveless blouses (straps, strapless, etc.) or dark colors, as the seal loses visibility (Photos with photographer’s seal or glasses will not be accepted).

Thesis

The Thesis is a written dissertation resulting from a research project. Concerning the presentation of the professional examination through the Thesis option, the Coordination of Student Services and School Management establishes the following guidelines:

1. The academic unit will be responsible for assigning:

  • Thesis topic using the THESIS REGISTRATION form, which must be submitted to the graduation coordination for topic registration.
  • Thesis director.
  • Timeframe for completing the document.
  • Content requirements for the work.
  • Evaluation modalities.
  • Date of the professional examination.

2. The above information will be communicated to the thesis candidate through an official letter, obtaining their acknowledgment signature.

Regarding the thesis topic assigned by the Directorate of the corresponding Academic Unit, it must be novel, meaning there should not be any other theses with the same content unless a new perspective is anticipated in the analysis and different results are obtained.

The second stage involves the presentation of the Professional Examination. The applicant must submit the following requirements to the Graduation Coordination at least fifteen working days before the proposed date:

  • Updated document clearance receipt (issued by the Department of Student Services and School Management).
  • Completed pre-application (access through the website http://siii.uabc.mx with your institutional email account).
  • Payment receipt for the title processing fee of $4,200.00 pesos (graduates from 2006-1 and earlier).
  • Payment receipt for $200.00 pesos for the University Social Responsibility Promotion.
  • 5 title-sized photographs pasted on a white background, oval-shaped, matte finish, 6 x 9 cm size, black and white, front view with 5 cm face close-up. Men: suit, tie, and light-colored shirt. Women: No sleeveless blouses, (straps, strapless) or dark colors, as the seal loses visibility. (Photos with photo studio stamps or glasses will not be accepted).
  • 4 child-sized photographs, with the same characteristics as the above (not pasted).
  • Professional examination application form.
  • Copy of the thesis registration authorization letter.
  • Approval form signed by each of the jury members.
  • Jury assignment form, signed with acceptance of the proposed date and time.
  • 1 copy of the thesis on a compact disc with a cover and label on the disc, containing the following information: Institution’s name, faculty name, Institutional Emblem, thesis title, thesis director’s name, candidate’s name, and current date.
  • 1 copy of the professional studies certificate.
  • 1 copy of the birth certificate.
  • 1 copy of the CURP.
  • 1 copy of the High School Certificate. (Original if it corresponds to an institution from another state).

Note: All copies must be double-sided and reduced to letter size.

Once the process is completed, the graduate will be eligible to take the Oath Ceremony, which, according to Article 111 of the UABC School Statute, is mandatory.

Audio-Visual Unit

This graduation modality involves selecting a topic from the curriculum that the student has completed and developing it using slides and recordings that make the presentation of the topic clear and concise.

The preparation of an Audio-Visual Unit will be carried out based on the following guidelines:

  • The corresponding Academic Unit will assign in writing the topic(s) to be developed using the Audio-Visual Unit Topic Registration Form. This form must be submitted to the graduation coordination for topic registration.
  • Once the topic has been officially communicated, the student will have a period of six months to present the first stage of their professional exam.
  • Once the audio-visual unit is completed, the student will submit it for approval to the jury assigned by the Academic Unit’s Directorate, who will issue a written approval vote.
  • Once the audio-visual unit is approved, the student will have one year to complete their professional exam.

When applying for their professional exam, the student must submit the following requirements to the Graduation Coordination at least 15 business days before the proposed date:

  • Updated document clearance receipt (issued by the Department of Student Services and School Management).
  • Completed pre-application (access through the website http://siii.uabc.mx/ with your institutional email account).
  • Payment receipt for the title processing fee of $4,200.00 pesos (graduates from 2006-1 and earlier).
  • Payment receipt for $200.00 pesos for the University Social Responsibility Promotion.
  • 5 title-sized photographs, laminated, oval, matte finish, 6 x 9 cm, black and white, front view with 5 cm face close-up. Men: suit, tie, and light-colored shirt.   • 1 copy of the authorization letter for the registration of the audio-visual unit.
  • Approval vote form signed by each of the committee members.
  • Examining Committee assignment form, signed with acceptance of the proposed date and time.
  • 1 copy of the professional studies certificate.
  • 1 copy of the birth certificate.
  • 1 copy of the CURP.
  • 1 copy of the High School Certificate. (Original if it corresponds to an institution from another Federal Entity).

Once the process is completed, the graduate will be eligible to take the Oath Ceremony, which, according to Article 111 of the UABC School Statute, is mandatory.

Publication or Article with Peer Review

This modality is exclusive to the Bioengineering Educational Program. To graduate under this modality, it is necessary to write and publish a scientific dissemination article in a prestigious journal or media outlet, which is evaluated and reviewed by a Committee composed of three academic specialists in the area or professional discipline.

REQUIREMENTS

1st Stage:

  • Submit the application to access this modality to the Graduation Coordination.
  • Attach a copy of the publication in question.
  • The document must be submitted in original and two copies. It will be forwarded to a REVIEW COMMISSION composed of specialists in the area, who will decide within 15 business days whether or not to accredit the graduation modality. Once the modality is accredited, proceed to the:
