School Statute
Chapter Six: Attendance to Classes
ARTICLE 97. Students who are required to attend classes shall do so punctually. Absences may only be justified before the Director of the Academic Unit for any of the following reasons:
- I. Due to illness;
- II. Due to fulfilling an appointment or commission conferred by the corresponding university authority to represent the University or any other entity in a significant academic, sports, or cultural program; and
- III. Due to unforeseen circumstances or force majeure, or compliance with an official mandate that prevents the student from attending.
Justified absences from classes shall not exceed twenty percent of the total class hours delivered in the learning unit program.
The justification for class absences shall be grantes upon verification of the reason, through the submission of sufficient supporting evidence.
ARTICLE 98. The student must justify absences by submitting the appropiate documentation to the Director of the Academic Unit within five business days following the date on which they were able to resume their studies.
If the Director deems the absences justified, a written authorization shall be issued to the student, so that the corresponding record may be made, the necessary flexibility may be granted for the fulfillment of academic activities scheduled during the period of absence, and, if applicable, the exam date may be rescheduled.
