Description

The following information provides a summary of the types of scholarships offered to students by the FCQI, as well as the requirements and application process. It also outlines the consultation platforms and relevant contacts for obtaining further information.

Types of Scholarships

Institutional Scholarships

Extension Scholarship (Reimbursable)

It consists of the authorization to defer the payment of enrollment fees, re-enrollment fees, tuition, and specific student charges, allowing these payments to be made within the same academic semester, under the deadlines and conditions established by the Treasury Office and the Department of Student Services and Academic Management, as stipulated in the corresponding agreement.

Credit Scholarship (Reimbursable)

The Credit Scholarship consists of financial support granted to students for the pursuit of their studies at the University, with the recipient being obligated to repay the Fund the amount of resources received, under the terms established in the corresponding agreement.

The Credit Scholarship comprises the following levels of funding:

I. Level One: designated for the payment of re-enrollment fees, tuition, and specific student charges;

II. Level Two: includes Level One funding, plus monthly stipends to support the payment of educational expenses, or solely monthly stipends to cover such educational expenses; and

III. Level Three: encompasses Level Two funding, and additionally provides monthly stipends to support the recipient’s basic living expenses, or solely monthly stipends for such living expenses.

Merit-Based Scholarship

  • It is awarded to recognize undergraduate students who have achieved the highest overall grade point averages within their degree program, provided that the GPA is equal to or greater than 90.
  • This scholarship covers a 100% contribution from UABC toward the payment of re-enrollment fees, tuition, and specific student charges. It is awarded to the top 1% of students with the highest GPAs in each academic program.

Economic Compensation Scholarship

It is awarded to students who assist in academic units, libraries, laboratories, workshops, and other university facilities, supporting academic or administrative activities during the current academic term, and who are in socio-economic disadvantage.

  • Level One: Intended for the payment of re-enrollment fees.
  • Level Two: Includes three monthly stipends to support the payment of educational expenses.
  • Level Three: Includes Level One funding, plus three monthly stipends to support the payment of educational expenses.

Artistic Scholarship

  • It is awarded to students for their outstanding participation in artistic activities, representing the University in local, state, regional, national, or international events.
  • Artistic Scholarships provide financial support of up to 100% for the payment of re-enrollment fees, tuition, and specific student charges.

Athletic Scholarship

  • It is awarded to students who have a significant role as members of sports teams, representing the University in local, state, regional, national, or international events.
  • The Athletic Scholarship provides financial support of up to 100% for the payment of re-enrollment fees, tuition, and specific student charges.

Scholarship for the Promotion of Natural and Exact Sciences

  • It is awarded to applicants to UABC for their outstanding participation in natural and exact sciences competitions at the state and/or national level.
  • It provides financial support to cover the enrollment fees for the first semester of one of the following degree programs: Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Oceanography, Environmental Science, Aquaculture Biotechnology, Applied Mathematics, Biology, and Physics.

Academic Merit Scholarship

  • It is awarded to undergraduate (4-year) or graduate (2-year) students who qualify for the Academic Merit Scholarship, in accordance with the University Merit Regulations, the Scholarship Regulations, and the criteria established by the Scholarship Committee.
  • The scholarship provides financial support to cover the full payment of enrollment or re-enrollment fees, tuition, and specific student charges, for the pursuit of graduate studies and/or foreign language accreditation offered by the University.

Scholarships Managed by the Academic Unit

Types of Monthly Support Scholarships

These scholarships must be applied for on the first day of the academic term, according to the current academic calendar.

  • A minimum GPA of 80 is required.
  • Without exception, the student must have an active university account (Santander).
  • Applications are submitted through the SIBECAS system (Student Portal – Scholarships – SIBECAS or directly at http://sibecas.uabc.mx/).
  • In addition, a socioeconomic study form and a commitment letter must be completed.
  • All documents are submitted to the Scholarship Officer for subsequent forwarding to the DSEGE.

*Amounts are subject to available resources; candidates are proposed by those responsible for: Warehouses, Research Projects, UR Supervisors, etc.

Reimbursement

  • It is awarded to students who assist in academic units, libraries, laboratories, workshops, and other university facilities, supporting academic or administrative activities.
  • The scholarship provides periodic financial contributions according to the resources allocated to the program.

Research

  • It is awarded to students who participate as thesis students or research assistants in projects authorized by the University’s General Coordination of Graduate Studies and Research.
  • This type of scholarship provides periodic financial contributions, which will be determined in the corresponding research project agreement.

Linkage Scholarship

This scholarship consists of financial contributions that may be granted to students for mobility, student exchange, professional internships, or service in university linkage programs developed through specific agreements with other institutions.
